Stage 3: Deliver

Following the Deepen workshop, a designated member of the senior leadership team—the ‘project lead’—develops a concrete action plan based on the ideas generated in the workshop.

In practice, this means collating the ideas captured on Post-It notes during the workshop and using them to create a coherent set of actions, each of which has a clear timescale and an individual responsible for its delivery.

“The planning process has been hugely valuable, and we are following through on nearly all the actions in the plan. I can’t recommend it enough.”

- Project lead and assistant headteacher

Depending on circumstances, rather than creating a separate action plan, it may be appropriate to incorporate some or all of the actions into the school’s existing plans, such as the pupil premium plan and/or the school improvement plan.

We recommend an onsite half-day session with a member of the School Inclusion Group at the University of Sussex to create a first draft of the action plan. The plan, in whatever form it is documented, should be presented to the senior leadership team for approval.

We provide practical support over an extended period to help ensure that the plan is implemented successfully.
